Marketing Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Gallery Assistant Manager | June 18, 2019 to present

  • Creation of brand guides for all the venues, events, and programs under the UAA Created design templates in Canva so that any staff member could make on brand signage and promotional materials for print and digital publication

  • Managed interns, created meaningful work experiences, and facilitated the development of graphic design talent within the company’s more junior staff through critique and instruction

  • Developed and produced merchandise, branded environmental elements, videos and animations, both print and digital graphics using applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign in the Adobe Creative Suite

  • Took candid photos of people enjoying the exhibits for promotional materials as well as managing relationships with professional photographers.

  • Managed and designed company websites on diverse platforms, such as WordPress, Squarespace, and Square Up to provide up-to-date information in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Created marketing assets to promote upcoming exhibits, programs, and events; coordinated the distribution of assets to social media, community calendars, and street team

  • Created a press list of Salt Lake City journalists, local community calendars, and influencers to promote exhibits and events

  • Managed production and publication of newsletters, including writing copy, editing, and building Mailchimp templates in collaboration with multiple managers

Oak Park-based designer finds meaningful work for idle hands

At a small table near the entrance of a vegetarian restaurant in Oak Park, local designer Sky Hatter sat in a floral dress and yellow sweater on a cushioned window ledge across from me in a chair with a comically high back. We met to talk about her two books. Before we started the interview, though, I needed to clear the air.
